New Build in Treveighan

This new build cottage style house will be situated centrally within the village and as such required strict control and design to ensure the building blended in with surrounding existing properties, with regard to size and materials.

The new house will sit between a modern stone faced cottage style building and the village’s old Post Office building, which has itself been converted to a family dwelling. There is a natural slope to the village, which has been carefully considered in the design.

Maintaining existing mature trees and boundary hedges was a high priority for both the client and the Local Authority Planning Department, to give privacy to neighbouring properties and keep the rural feel of the area. Landscaping works included details for the careful retention and protection of the hedges, together with tree root protection works to ensure that excavation for foundations did not damage existing trees.
