Barn Conversion, Luxulyan

A series of connected barns converted to form one three bedroom house. New roofs were designed in a traditional way so that inside the rafters and purlins are exposed below the ceiling.

From the outside the barns have traditional stone walls and reclaimed Delabole slate roofs. A sustainable and energy efficient ground source heat pump system (ICE Energy) has been installed to provide hot water and central heating via underfloor heating. This works by extracting heat stored in the ground - a completely free and renewable energy source - and provides a very cost effective energy system to heat a large house.

An adjacent, smaller barn was also converted. This provided accommodation for the owners while the conversion work was undertaken, and is now used as a holiday cottage.

A new house within Tywardreath - it had to bridge the gap between the original cottages of the Conservation Area on one side and post war bungalows on the other.

Grade II Listed Barn Conversions

Whilst undertaking major refurbishment works around this Grade II Listed Building estate, the clients brief for this 'L' shaped set of buildings was for full conversion to dwelling of the two-storey apple/potato store, with the double height cow shed being converted into a meeting/function room.
